125 – Daughter

WHAT A TWEEST

On a tangentially related note, I had originally planned for an animation to release a few updates down the road to cap off this arc, but upon consideration, I don’t think it’s going to happen.

The sequence in particular that I want to animate is too much of a headache to work on. Unlike Override, where I was using Flash to make my comics so I had assets ready, I switched to just usually a more traditional comic method, using CSP. The downside, I don’t have much by way of assets. Pivot has a full rig but it’s clunky, and most of the other rigs made are super limited.

I also don’t have enough time to get the animation prepared before the time I’d need it. So instead I’m just going to stick to comic format.

This is gonna turn into a “I helped in creating you, there for you are my daughter”, isn’t it?
Cause I remember Pipers mother calling him “Dr. Hivewell”, and not “my husband”.

While I dislike that man greatly…

Can I have his technology, I would love to ~~decimate the lives of someone I know in the name of furthering research~~ ~~enter the matrix~~ finally be able to play in VR without a headset. Don’t mind the people around me screaming about lightsabers.

I have also realized that these commands don’t use the same markdown as Discord. Pretend the stuff like ~~this~~ has strikethrough.

Given that she’s effectively renounced her old “self” (Piper) and pushed on with her new identity (Pivot), I wonder if she really has much of a right to deny that claim anymore? Sure, her mother is the one who built her, but this guy is the reason she was able to do so in the first place. Without him, Piper would have died and Pivot would never exist.

So very interested to see what happens next!

    1. Judeo says:

I would like to attempt to correct you to the best of my intentions.

There was no “old” self for Pivot. She does not have the memories that Piper does except those from the nightmare sequence. Pivot essentially “woke” up with no memory, an amnesiac if you will.

Dr. Hivewell and Dr. Vocis(Piper’s mother) did work together to create an android surrogate for Piper, but Piper was dying of an incurable ailment and this has pushed Dr.Vocis to take Dr. Hivewell’s offer for help. Pivot’s body was supposedly an improvement for Android Piper since there were bugs and “security holes” in the frame.
Pivot was given Piper’s personality core when Android Piper commited “not alive”(suicide by electrocution).

Dr. Vocis had just finished the new body with the personality core when the IFS showed up, prompting her to abandon the new body as the research lab she and Dr. Hivewell isn’t exactly legal.

The most important thing to know is that…
PIPER’S (and in this case, also PIVOT’S) MOTHER IS STILL ALIVE.

She’s probably secluded in a remote place to forget about the things she’s done. She may also be wallowing in her own guilt.

On a side note, I still can’t believe that tommy guns are still a thing in a futuristic fantasy city.

Some firearms just hold up for a long time.
The m1911 is still in use / popular for a lot of people and still gets manufactured, despite being over 100 years old.

      1. Redoneter593 says:

And the M1 Garand. Super popular among gun enthusiasts for that “ping” sound and it’s revolutionary design.

      2. Judeo says:

Other guns are just so popular they represent a pop culture during its time, such as the Thompson SMG with drum magazine and 1960s gangsters, even when they are considered obsolete.

I was tempted to make another Jojo reference, but instead I’ll simply say that someone is going to need some therapy after all this is over. Emotional or physical.

    Ah, what twist!

  17. talin says:

What is she just pulls out the other core she stored away and announces that piper died and that she essentially is a backup unit that her supposed mother tried to make as close as possible to her but with none of the memories that would have made her piper.

    1. Redoneter593 says:

And as she explains this and Hive responds, her AMP timer is ticking, something I have no doubt Hive is likely well aware of be it from witnessing it himself or from knowing technological limits and as a result will be buying time to deal with her, even if it means revealing the truth or just telling a very convincing lie.

    2. Anonymous says:

But that would essentially be an asspull in its own terms. Though I do agree with a theory like that’s standards

    Pivot: Your WHAT!?
    Pivot: I’m not your DAUGHTER!
    Pivot: I’M.
    Pivot: NOT.
    Pivot: PIPER.
    Pivot: NOW LET HER GO.
Hivewell: The way I see it, you are Piper, sweety.
Hivewell: A communications model with a brash personality.
Hivewell: Not to mention you have your mother’s AMP.
    Pivot: How do you-
Hivewell: Please, a normal comms bot would’ve collapsed with those breaker arms.
Pivot: If you’re that interested in me, then let her go. She has nothing to do with all this!
Hivewell: I like to have insurance on every front. I wouldn’t want to damage the casino’s reputation and have people sent to the hospital now, do we?

    1. Redoneter593 says:

This is gold, GOLD! I could so see Hive and Pivot responding like that! You have some real talent for writing!

Called it! Main villain finally makes an appearance. I guess he’s going to try and woo Pivot to his side because he sees she has the pink-thingy(sorry, can’t remember the name).

I hope Pivot grabs Socket and blasts through that door to safety.

That…can’t be…I thought H.I.V.E.M.I.N.D and Piper/Pivot’s dad were separate people!
    Wait…Is that even H.I.V.E.M.I.N.D?!

The one talking in the old logs or whatever was her mother (wasn’t clear until the end.) That said, HIVEMIND is probably more referring to the fact that he helped create her robot self or whatever, not that he’s literally her biological father.

      1. Daybreaker7 says:

        I guess that makes sense.
